Personality Friday With Mimi

“We imagine even the weirdest of things, pen it down , make it look like reality and finally tag it fiction.” Jimoh Omomizie Precious

Good Evening ma. This is Personality Friday With Mimi. Can we meet you?

Good evening.
Yes, you can.

Your name and any other thing that makes you up?

I’m Jimoh Omomizie Precious.
I’m a female. A native of Edo State. I’m a student of Ambrose Alli University.

So, what do you do?

I’m a writer. Not a viral one though.
I’m a student.

How did you start writing?

I started penning down stuffs at a very tender age.
I wrote short stories and distributed them amongst my peers.
Along the line, I stopped.
I wasn’t having any inspiration. I started yearning for a life. Jamb ordeals and all the rest.
I got surrounded by writers on Facebook. I felt this yearn to write again.
The voices in my head won’t let me be.
I had to break free. I asked God for motivation and inspirations.
And now, here I am an almost good writer.

Wow!

What aspect do you write?

I do sad and horror filled write-ups.
I do love write-ups.

Well, I can do any.
Depending on my inspiration.

Awwwwn..
What motivates you?

What do I say?
My inspiration comes from God. He’s my motivation too.

I get inspired by nature basically. I pay a very close attention to life.
Then my motivation, I love writing. That’s enough for a motivation.

Ok..
There’s this belief about writers who do sad write-ups actually being sadists.
What’s your view about that?

Nopety nope!
I’m a very happy creature.
My joy isn’t ordinary, it’s divine. It radiates from my inside to my outside. It’s visible. I can’t be happy and someone close to me is sad. It rubs on others.

Yeah, sometimes I get sad.
It never eats me up.
I have God and so, I have a very happy life.

After doing an horror writeup, don’t you get scared?

Depending on my mood.
If I’m just me or gloomy, I get a bit scared.
I’m a fan of horror movies. And guess what? I watch them at night. It makes them more intriguing and interesting.

Well, for instance, the short horror fictional story I wrote this morning, I actually wrote it last night.
I pictured every scene of that write up. It sent shivers down my spine. I was scared, a bit .

That’s cool!

I once heard “Writers are liars just like lawyers”. How true is this?

Ooops..
I’d say no!
What’s a lie? When you say something that isn’t true and yet you make it look true and others believes it .
That’s why we have Fiction, Biography and Auto Biography.
We write out our imaginations. We let our minds go ransack. We imagine even the weirdest of things, pen it down , make it look like reality and finally tag it fiction. Meaning? It’s just a work of imaginations and it’s not reality.
We don’t try writing fictional stuffs and then say it happened in reality.
Only biographies are near truths.
So you see? We aren’t liars.

Wow! That was deep!
What advice would you give a new writer?

Smiles
Put God first!
Press on, hold on, don’t quit.
Be careful so as not to slip into depression.
Be your own encouragement. Yeah! The outside world should support but be your own encouragement.

When I started writing, I had as low as 10 likes , two comments on a write up of about 700 to 800 words. I started feeling like I wasn’t good enough. I got surrounded by positive people. I insisted I would never give up.
So, they should try to surround themselves with positive people.

And again, Let God be your inspiration and motivation.
Write to touch lives. Don’t write for the likes and reactions.
#Dont quit!

Uhmmm..
So, what’s your advice to other youths out there?

Smiles..
Try as much as possible to live a happy life. You see sadism? It should be avoided. That’s the beginning of depression.
Don’t give up. There’s much to life than meets the eye.
Love! Try to assist one another monetary and otherwise.
We’re strong!
